Some words of wisdom...

Wonderful words to live by.....

Special request to all you kids returning to school. If you see someone who is struggling to make friends, or being bullied because he/she doesn't have many friends, or because they are shy, or not as pretty, or not dressed in the most "in" clothes, PLEASE step up. Say hi or at least smile at them in the hallway. You never know what that person might be facing outside of school. Your kindness might just make a BIG difference or even save someone's life!!

A post someone shared on Facebook. I don't know where it originated, but since school starts this week I re-posted it on FB also.
I remember school so well. I was not one of the "popular kids". I didn't have the best clothes, and I spent many evenings alone in my room watching TV. I did have a few friends I could count on...but never made that life long friend connection.
I had to change schools between 11th & 12th grade
I know how hard it was to "fit in".

Here' s hoping every kid has a great school year and makes many new friends.

  1. Wonderful quote! And wonderful post on FB. I was lucky to have the same group of friends from 2nd grade through HS, and some of the same friends still today. But I know that school can be hard for so many kids, especially nowadays. While we didn't know each other as kids, I am happy to know you in my adult life and call you a close friend :)

  2. Thanks Jenny!!! I am glad to have you as a friend also!

  3. Thank you so much for posting this, Berta! And for sharing your heart.
You are so right and its so necessary - it seems like bullying is getting worse and worse, and it causes so much needless damage and pain. The sad part is that the bullies are really the ones with the lowest sense of self-worth, the ones who really need love and attention, but because of their actions, they insure that they won't receive any of that. Its just a sad downward spiral all around.
When I think back on junior high (when it seems bullying was the worst) I wish I'd had the guts or maturity to step in and speak up for those who were being bullied. I certainly don't remember any of the teachers intervening - at least there's that awareness now among adults, and hopefully thats helping some kids.
Wow! You got me going! Here's to kindness and love and friendship!!!!

  4. Wow I love the banner you have on top of your page first and foremost, and then love words to live by but most importantly love the message of being kind to other kids.. I work in a high school and I see how the hallways can be and how small or unnoticeable some kids think they are... Can't wait to see more of your blog!

I would love to hear from you!
